In a 2005 interview with Larry King, actress Lauren Bacall described herself as "anti-Republican... A liberal. The L word." She went on to say that "being a liberal is the best thing on earth you can be. You are welcoming to everyone when you're a liberal. You do not have a small mind."
She first emerged as leading lady in the Humphrey Bogart film To Have And Have Not (1944) and continued on in the film noir genre, including appearances in The Big Sleep (1946) and Dark Passage (1947). (Excerpt from Wikipedia)
